About me

Welcome to FoodieNotAChef!

I'm Tiffany — the face, heart, and photographer behind this vibrant corner of the internet. I'm a proud Guyanese girl with a deep love for Afro-Caribbean flavors, colorful plates, and the magic that happens when food brings people together. From very humble beginnings in Guyana to building a life filled with flavor, faith, and family — this blog is a reflection of my journey and my culture.

I moved to the U.S. during secondary school (big shoutout to my CCSS fam!), carrying the traditions of my upbringing and the rich culinary wisdom passed down from my amazing mom who worked in food service for years. She taught me how to cook with love, soul, and seasoning — and I’m so grateful to now share those flavors with you.

By day, I’m a pharmacist. But on my off days? You’ll find me in the kitchen — my creative playground, my therapy space, and now, a source of joy and inspiration for thousands of readers. I’m married to my Ghanaian husband (also known as my professional unpaid taste tester), and the Ghanaian dishes on this blog are inspired by him. We’re raising a little foodie-in-training named Ian, who keeps us laughing and is currently obsessed with Elmo!

Returning to the Blogosphere

Life has an incredible way of leading us into seasons that require our full attention and devotion. For the past three years, I’ve been living one of those transformative chapters. My heart’s focus shifted entirely to nurturing my family and navigating the exciting yet daunting process of transitioning to a new state. Today, however, marks my return to something else that brings me immense joy: blogging.

If you’re reading this, thank you for joining me as I reconnect with this creative space. Allow me to share a bit about where I’ve been and where we’re heading together from here.

Why I Stepped Away

Three years ago, life shifted…I got pregnant with my second child and boy did things change quickly! Lol. Balancing motherhood, family responsibilities, and the demands of moving to a new state left little room for much else.

As a Caribbean woman, community has always been at the heart of my identity. Moving to a new place meant rediscovering how to cultivate that sense of belonging in unfamiliar surroundings. It took time and effort to settle into a rhythm where everyone in my family felt supported and at peace.

During this period, I realized that stepping away from blogging wasn’t so much a failure but a Gift. My family needed my full attention—and to be honest, I needed time to learn and grow through these changes myself.

What I’ve Learned

Growth happens in quiet moments. These three years taught me patience, resilience, and the beautiful rediscovery of myself. My faith in God played a huge role in my transformation and growth.

I’ve also come to appreciate the power of slowing down. As a creative person, it’s easy to feel pressured to produce, to constantly share updates or create something that you lose sight of your original vision. Stepping away allowed me to redefine my goal for the blog, which is to create Easy, Approachable, quality Afro-Caribbean infused recipes that the entire family can enjoy.

The New Chapter

As I return to blogging, I’m bringing new recipes to share. This space will be rooted in authenticity and vibrant meals you can prepare for your entire family. If you’re anything like me and struggle with what dishes to make for my family…then you’re at the right place

Here’s what you can expect from this new chapter:

  1. Cooking Demos: Visual guides to help you perfect recipes.
  2. Fresh Recipes with a Twist: A blend of traditional favorites along with modern flavors.
  3. Weekly Q&A: Answering your cooking, baking, and food-related questions.
  4. Kitchen Tips & Hacks: Sharing time-saving tricks I’ve picked up over the years.
  5. Subscription Revival: A fresh approach to keeping you in the loop with recipe updates and exclusive perks.

To those that have been with me from the beginning, thank you for your patience during my time away and for your continued support as I step back into this creative space.
To my new followers and subscribers, it’s my pleasure to have you here 🙂

With that said, let us navigate this new chapter together—–with grace, resilience, and lots of Caribbean spice…Oh yes!

Much Love
Tiffany
